I found this piece of driftwood on my local beach. The green stone came from the headland nearby on another occasion.  I shaped the stone first, thinking it was for a separate piece. The timber dried by my woodburner all winter and when I shaped it it fell into three parts. I was excited by its potential and realised in a moment that the rock, from just a stones throw away was the key. The mokume was made many months later, when the timber was finally seasoned.
