A Sense of Scale
600 x 1100 x 100mm Chip carved, cypress 'Sun' form with copper / bronze and mokume inlay and a carved Sapphire 'Earth', also in laid with mokume. They have a correct scale relationship at 40m apart.

The Apple of my Eye
110mm diameter Inner sphere carved from the apple tree after which my daughter was named, set in a silvered copper inlay at the center of a stone with volcanic veins.
130 x 120 x 140mm Jade (discarded by a carver for its cracks and flaws) set in brass, recovered from an old machine, in cypress from a firewood pile.
Bob Until You Know
100 x 100 x 65mm Black basalt, carved to hold a bronze and silver irogane centre. I didn't know what to name this piece and said as much to my wife, who suggested I call it Bob until I know.
150mm diameter Cypress sphere, with grown inclusions and ripple figured grain. A quartz sphere sits in a copper dish among copper leaf and inlay.
120mm diameter Outer sphere of shattered matai, inlaid with mokume gane and a phonolite centre, with further mokume in lay and 'rings'.
115mm diameter Spalted red beech from a friend's garden, inlaid with brass.
70mm diameter Carved phonolite sphere with natural face in silver leaf and a raised shibuichi and silver mokume gane centre dome. Mokume gane translates as wood grained metal (mokume plate kindly donated by Joe Davy).
