All three of my children were named after a guardian tree, outside the homes they were born in. My middle daughter got the Cornish for apple as her middle name (Avalene). Here is a wee sphere, carved from a branch that came from her aged tree, after a high wind (she's lucky I didn't call her Granny Smith!)

The overflowing copper was inspired by a liverwort like plant growing near my studio. The stone is a sedimentary rock, the cracks and checks flooded by later volcanic flows. It likens my love for our garden of eden with that of my daughter.
