Red Electron
Only 61 certified Martian meteorites have ever been found. Here I have a fragment of one. I kept the fragile rock close to its original form. It sits inside a red jasper sphere, shaped from a stone found in a remote river bed on the South Island of New Zealand. I carved it, cracked it open and hollowed it out, adding copper leaf to the center. The forged arms and raised outer were colored with heat and preserved with conservation wax. They will however change hue in time.
This is the sister work to Lunar Sector. I look forward to working further in 'off world materials'. (roll over images for further info)
