Basalt is a volcanic rock existing on the Cornish coast of my childhood memory and here in Otago, on the other side of the world, where I live now; in sight of Cornish Head. Silver was mined on both islands and this work brings the poles of my world closer, making it a smaller, more precious world, for me.
